There are about 200 dog breeds in the world today. It thus becomes quite difficult to decide as to which one is the right one for you. This is actually a very important decision that you have to make. A wrong decision here may create a lot of problem for you and your family. You may get an unwanted dog and then you may end up taking it to a shelter (for re-adoption) or you also abandon it. This will be no good for you as well as for your dog. So be careful while selecting your dog. You must always remember that young little puppies grow very quickly. They grow up to become big dogs and thus you have to take care of them for a very long period of time, maybe up to 10 years or more. Dogs become a part of your family and thus you should take all the precautions while selecting them. House training the dog in the first few months could be quite tough for you. So you should be more than hundred percent sure whether you want the dog or not. With so many dog breeds, it often becomes difficult to choose the right dog breed. So how should one go about it? Basically, you need to put certain questions to yourself. The answers to these questions will help you in making a correct decision. The first thing you should always consider is the amount of space you have in your house. It will obviously be very difficult to accommodate a huge dog in a small apartment. Dogs like terriers are ideal for such small apartments. Your choice of dog should also depend on the number of children you have. You should choose a dog according to the age of your children. Toy dogs are very soft and weak and thus they can be easily inured by small children. On the other hand, big dogs like Saint Bernard or Great Dane can injure your little ones. So be very careful while choosing a dog for your family. |
