The tail can be straight or it can be corkscrewed. They have floppy jaws which gives them a clownish appearance. Boston Terrier coat comes in different colors like seal, black, or brindle. The coat has white markings on it. Symmetrical markings are present. Their chest is white. In between their eyes, they have white markings.

Boston Terriers love to eat though not as much as bigger breeds. They are very energetic but can adjust to apartment life easily. You must take your dog for long walks regularly. They need this to burn off their excess energy. If you don't take him for a romp in the park on a regular basis, you may find him bouncing off the walls. You should allow them to exercise as much as they want. It will be good if you have a home with fenced yard.

Boston Terrier can become very naughty if they have nothing to do. That's why puppy obedience classes are quite important for them. The classes will train your puppy and will also keep him occupied. Boston Terriers are intelligent dogs and they love to learn new things. They learn the basic obedience very quickly. They love to perform at a public place and enjoy new challenges.

This breed was on the verge of being extinct because of breeders who were irresponsible and did not breed dogs who had genetic diseases. However this breed is back now, thanks to some hard slog and cautious breeding. This breed is prone to develop a number of diseases like hypothyroidism, bad knees, deafness and cataracts. Boston Terrier can also develop heart murmers. Demodectic mange is a non-infectious condition seen in dogs that are below six months old. This is due to the fact that Bostons have a weak immune system and Demodectic mange results in hairless spots. Your dog may become totally bald or may have sores all over. They can recover with proper treatment, however some dogs are not able to recover and they develop enormous skin infections after which they are put down. If your dog has mange, you need to give him a bath regularly otherwise grooming is not required frequently. Normally once a week grooming is more than enough.

Because Bostons love food, you need to monitor their weight especially as they grow old. You should consult your veterinarian if he puts on weight. Boston Terrier will suggest a diet which is especially designed for such dogs. Take your dog to your veterinarian on a regular basis if he has mange.
